The record

The group was incorporated in August 2000, while her mother was governor, as “The Governor’s Business Partners for Early Learning.” Its five incorporators included Gov. Jeanne Shaheen. Stefany was not one of them.

Its charter let the governor appoint its board and made the governor a board member. Its stated purpose was to carry out the recommendations of the governor’s own child-care commission.

Its 2001 tax return lists no employees and no salaries, only $45,000 paid to an unnamed consultant. Its board included Gov. Shaheen and a policy aide from her office, and it was co-chaired by a Providian Financial executive. Stefany does not appear anywhere in the filing.

By April 2002, with her mother still in office, a newspaper described Stefany as its top staffer.

One of its two co-chairs, Donna Lencki, signed the incorporation papers alongside Gov. Shaheen. In 2023 Lencki became CEO of Good Measures, the company Stefany co-founded. (Good Measures announcement, May 31, 2023)

She is one of six named inventors on one granted patent, listed third. It was first filed in February 2012, more than ten years before ChatGPT.

It is a nutrition score: compare each nutrient a person eats to a target, weight the gaps, add them into an index, and suggest foods that raise it. The patent never mentions artificial intelligence or machine learning. A follow-up U.S. application was abandoned. Since 2024 the patent has belonged to NationsBenefits.

Her MIT degree is from the Sloan School of Management, MIT’s business school.
